An AI agent can complete a purchase and still get the order wrong. For the person whose money it spent, what happens next matters as much as how easily it checked out.

Sure and Agentcard are partnering to address that concern. Agentcard has announced protection for purchases made using its Vault.

For companies building agents that buy on a user's behalf, the partnership brings a concrete benefit into the payment experience. It gives them an answer to a question their users have good reason to ask: what protection is available if my agent makes a mistake?

Buying with the cards people already use

Agentcard provides payment infrastructure for companies building AI agents. Its Vault lets customers use their existing cards for agent purchases, with authorization controls over how those cards are used.

That approach keeps the purchase connected to a familiar payment method. Agentcard says customers retain their card rewards and can dispute transactions through their bank. Its current product guidance recommends Vault as the starting point for companies adding payments to their agents.

Protection fits naturally into that experience. A customer deciding whether to let an agent buy something needs to understand both the permission they are giving and the help available if the order goes wrong.

What the partnership provides

Agentcard co-founder and CEO Karen Serfaty explained the thinking behind the partnership in her announcement on X:

"agents can make mistakes when making purchases online. that's why we're partnering with @SureHQ to insure all purchases made with @agentcardhq up to $250."

The benefit is available only for purchases made using Agentcard's Vault. Agentcard's company announcement on LinkedIn outlines two refund limits:

  • $250: The maximum refund per purchase.
  • $1,000: The annual refund limit.

Agentcard also features the protection on its Vault product page, alongside its other payment features.

For someone considering an agent purchase, those details make the protection more tangible. They establish the announced refund limits and identify the payment channel through which the benefit is available.

What this means for companies building agents

For an agent company, completing checkout is one part of earning a user's trust. The experience also includes what happens after money changes hands.

Spending controls and purchase protection serve different purposes. Controls help a user decide what an agent is allowed to spend. Protection can provide a way to address an eligible mistake after the purchase. Both deserve a clear explanation before someone delegates a buying task.

The partnership gives Agentcard's partners a specific benefit to include in that explanation. Its value starts with making the conversation practical: which purchases qualify, what the limits are, and how a customer can seek help.

Sure's partnership with Agentcard reflects a broader priority for the agentic economy: giving people confidence in the tasks they delegate, including purchases. As companies build more capable shopping agents, the experience after checkout deserves the same attention as the purchase itself.
